Monday, April 23, 2001I finally had a chance to catch up with what's been happening with all of you, and it's been a lot! Firstly, welcome to Meagan. I will get your site linked to mine as soon as I am able to, I promise.Bonnie, I'm glad to hear that you're okay. What a relief to have that behind you! Now you can relax and enjoy your summer. My thoughts are with you. They're also with Emily, Deb. What a bummer! Glad she's at least getting some good sympathy out of a bad piece of luck. :-) Shana, you tell the best stories! I loved the tale of your visit to NYC. The cop story was hilarious, and I'd love to know what BFE means. I e-mail addy is cconklin@direcpc.com Misty, glad to hear that you had fun at your sister's. Oh, and happy belated birthday, Karen. Chris, you must be getting so excited. The big day is almost here. Hi Tina! Hi Leigh! Heather, I wasn't able to access your blog today for some reason. I'll check again and let you know if I'm still having problems. Are we still on for lunch soon? Cathy, I'm going to get back to Jix soon, I promise. It seems like I can only access one site a day or check in with e-mail or my blog. Little Miss Katey doesn't seem to let me do more than that! Has any one else had any experience with colic in their children? We're having a relatively small bout of it with Katelyn, although it sure didn't seem minor this past weekend. Yikes! This kid has some lungs, let me tell you! I'd love to hear any helpful hints that any of you might have for a new mom. My e-mail addy is listed above, and thanks in advance. :-) Everything else is fine. I'm adjusting to being home much better than I thought I would. I haven't even thought about work, strangely enough. This Friday marks my official last day. I have to go in and return my keys, etc. I wonder if it will hit me then? I'll try to check back in soon. Hugs to you all!
Good grief, another 10 days have gone by. How is this possible? Time is cruising by so quickly that I'm forgetting to breathe half of the time. How is everyone? Wait, I think I'll go blogging and find out for myself. I'll be back in a second or two... P.S. Deb, thanks for the help with my e-mail addy!
Friday, April 13, 2001Okay, so it's been 10 days since I last checked in with you all. Sorry! I do have a good excuse however as we've been without a computer. Yes, the stupid thing, which I've been complaining about for the past month, finally died...so...WE GOT A NEW ONE! Yes! Yes! Yes! It seems to be working well so far. Here's the scoop...I have a new e-mail address: cconklin@direcpc.com It should be activated by Monday, so any future e-mails should be sent to that address, okay? Thanks! I feel so doggone out of touch. I hate that feeling. Hopefully now that the computer is running, I'll be able to carve out an hour each day to catch up with you all. I've missed you all so much. :-( Motherhood is going well, although I guess I truly didn't understand what a full-time job this is! LOL I can't complain though, because Katey is a little sweetie, and has been very gracious to get onto a pretty consistent schedule for me. She is already growing by leaps and bounds (she's 1 month old today!). Not to get fancy or anything, but I'll have to learn how to post a picture, so that you can see her updated "look". I am SO far behind in FanFic from all of the TB sites that I shudder to think of what awaits me. I also haven't had a chance to read any blogs, so give me time to catch up there too. I probably won't be back until Monday again. Tomorrow we're having Katey baptised in a small evening service at our church, and then Sunday we're doing all of the Easter festivities - both at church and at my mother-in-law's house. Should be a crazy weekend. I'm anxious to see how Katey handles all of the excitement, as well as having water poured on her head! :-) Hope you all have a great weekend. I look forward to reconnecting with you next week! :-)
Tuesday, April 03, 2001I'm Baaaaacccckkk! How's everyone doing? Bet you thought that I disappeared off the face of the earth after having Katelyn. I guess I didn't believe everyone who told me that my free-time would be practically non-existent for a couple of months. :-) All is going well. Thanks Deb for posting the picture. I'm glad that you were all able to see her, as I know I would never have been able to figure out how to attach the darn thing. Thanks also to Cathy for calling me and for spreading the news around the boards. You have no idea how much I've missed you all. I feel so disconnected from the Trixie World these days. *sniff sniff* The bulk of the problem is still this damn computer here at home. Rich and I finally gave in and ordered a new one, which should be arriving soon, I hope! So I really had a rough go of it with the labor and delivery bit. I won't bore you with all of the gruesome details, but I did end up having to have a C-section after 15 hours of labor. Whatever could have gone wrong, seemed to have. I ended up having toxemia that last week of my pregnancy and didn't even know it. With the drugs they were giving me, my blood pressure was fluctuating between 140 over 95 (normal for me is 90 over 50) and then dropping down to 50 over 20. I was in and out of consciousness for most of the night. When my water broke, it turned out that Katey's first "poop" was in the water, which is really dangerous for her, so then they really tried to speed up the labor. I was dilated to 8 for about 5 hours straight, but couldn't seem to go the final 2 centimeters. I'm so thankful to the doctor for finally pushing for the surgery, as it turned out that both her arm and her head were stuck in the birth canal and her body was lying sideways in my stomach, plus the cord was wrapped around her neck three times. He had a heck of a time getting her out of there, as she was truly stuck! :-) But once she arrived, everything was fine, and Rich and I haven't come down from cloud 9 yet. I'm starting to feel much better from the surgery, and am now starting to get cabin fever just a bit. My mom was here for the first two weeks, which was wonderful, and now my mother-in-law is here for a week, which ISN'T so wonderful, but I'm trying to keep my patience admidst all of my post-pregnancy hormones! I wish that I had time to read all of your blogs, as I know I've missed a ton in your lives. Please know that I think of you all every day. I promise that as soon as we have this computer situation taken care of, I will try to post more faithfully. I'm having trouble posting on the boards as well. I was able to thank the folks at "Jix" for their kind thoughts, but haven't been able to get to the other boards. If someone wouldn't mind thanking everyone for me, I would sure appreciate it. Also, Deb, I received word from Jen C. that she is back to blogging, and I still have her posted as "on break". Would you mind changing my page, so that she doesn't think that I don't want to read her blog?! Thanks! I didn't get the HTML book that I wanted for my birthday, as the old birthday kind of got lost in the shuffle in the midst of Katey's arrival! LOL I'll have to run out one day soon and get it. My love to you all! I'll try to figure out how to post pictures soon, so that I can add a couple of new ones of Katey. She sure has changed in 3 weeks. Take care!
